Out In The Community
Being actively involved in our community is an important part of the learning experiences at South Pine Community Kindergarten. Throughout the year, children engage in a range of meaningful incursions and excursions that extend their thinking, spark curiosity, and broaden their understanding of the world around them. Visitors to the centre include regular incursions such as Evergreen Puppets, Ocean Life, and Professor Jellybean, offering engaging experiences focused on sustainability, marine conservation, and hands-on science.
Children also learn about culture through visits from Aunty Sharon “Mirri” Bell, an Aboriginal songwriter and storyteller, and Sunday Ali from Hello Africa, who shares his culture through music, dance, and drumming. Our excursions into the local community include Bush Kindy experiences, visits to Strathpine West State School, and special opportunities such as fire truck visits. Families are informed prior to each event, with risk assessments provided, ensuring all experiences are safe, purposeful, and enriching for every child.
Pine Rivers Show
Each year, South Pine Kindy proudly takes part in the Pine Rivers Show, celebrating our children’s voices and sharing our philosophy of Imagine, Play and Grow with the wider community.
The Show is a wonderful opportunity for our Kindy to come together with other local early learning centres and schools, highlighting the importance of early childhood education within the Pine Rivers area.
It’s truly a team effort as our teachers, children, and marketings sub-committee work together to bring the display to life, showcasing the creativity, curiosity, and learning that happen every day at South Pine Kindy.

In 2025, our focus was on outdoor learning environments, featuring special elements from our Kindy grounds such as the fig tree and native beehive. Visitors to our display were invited to “step through the South Pine Kindy gates,” beginning at our iconic bullnose-roofed building and wandering through to the beehive in our outdoor playground.
Our display showcased a rich collection of children’s work, such as:

- Drawings exploring play and construction
- Detailed bird illustrations and hand-sculpted clay nests
- Watercolour artworks inspired by our Bush Kindy adventures and colour theory investigations
- A collaborative 3D “elevator” structure, showing every stage of the children’s planning and building process

A special highlight this year were recycled bottle cap tree, a beautiful symbol of growth and sustainability, and a reminder of our shared responsibility to care for the land. We invited everyone to contribute by adding a bottle cap to our wooden installation!
The Pine Rivers Show is always a joyful celebration of community, creativity, and connection and we’re proud to be part of it every year.
