Our Curriculum

Our Centre's Philosophy is based on The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia (EYLF) that describes a vision of children's learning characterised by Belonging, Being and Becoming.  While the EYLF focuses on children from birth to five years, the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG) aims to specifically enrich children's learning in the Kindergarten Year.  The guideline describes a set of five learning and development areas that relate to the five broad learning outcomes identified in the EYLF:

The teacher’s role involves both setting up appropriate learning experiences and observing children’s responses to these experiences. At some times the teacher acts as observer only, at other times the teacher will interact in the play – supporting, listening and extending your child’s thinking.  The teacher assistant’s role is to provide support to the teachers and to assist in the implementation of the Centre’s curriculum.

Children’s responses are recorded so that the teachers build a picture of each child, their strengths and weaknesses, and plan to support each child’s development.  Through this process we believe that we prepare children to move confidently into the key learning areas in more formalised school settings.

Throughout the year the teachers will share information with you about your child’s progress and engagement in the program through discussion and documentation.
